Thanksgiving Day wedding ceremony on the beach

Josephine and Daniel figured that since all the family was in town for Thanksgiving it was the perfect time to get married.

Daniel is a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton. They meant on their friends blind date. They got to know each other and fell in love.

They chose the beach in San Clemente by the pier.

Josephine is seven months pregnant and excited about starting a new family.

I performed a modified Catholic style ceremony while they stood in the heart that I dug into the sand.

Their family was delighted and excited about this new family coming together.

We honor our military families and hope that they have a wonderful life together.

At beautiful Little Corona in Newport Beach Linda and Scott said “I do.”

20151114_154604_resizedAt beautiful Little Corona in Newport Beach Linda and Scott said “I do.”  In their private ceremony on the shore, they were joined by their 4 children, who each played a role in blessing their parents union.

This was a very family centered ceremony that, while lifting up the sacred love that both Scott and Linda found in each other, focused on the merging of their two families and the joy they experience as they come together.  After Scott and Linda affirmed their desire to be faithful to one another, all four children were asked to also say their “I do’s” — to bless and commit to relationship together as a new family.

As the sun set upon the ocean, it rises in their new relationship.  The beauty of the afternoon surely reflects the beauty of their relationship.  What a blessing to stand before this committed couple as they vowed to journey with one another through life!

It was another picture-perfect beach wedding for Woody and his couple Monica and Brandon on the Redondo Beach.

It was another picture-perfect beach wedding for Woody and his couple Monica and Brandon on the Redondo Beach. This was a walk-on wedding with no set up, and included their custom courtship story as well as a Hawaiian lei ceremony. ALOHA!SAM_1664

We want to kiss right at sunset” at Gladstone’s in Malibu

SAM_1658“We want to kiss right at sunset” was the instructions given to Woody by Tatiana and Stephen. With Woody’s skills…..this is exactly what happened. Tatiana and Stephen had a Catholic Lite ceremony, which included their own vows which filled the beach behind Gladstone’s restaurant in Malibu with tears and laughter. And yes….the kiss was right at sunset.  SAM_1656

The Beach, the Bum, the Skateboard and the Twine Rings.

I know this is an unusual title for a wedding blog but the following is actually what transpired at my wedding at 9 AM this morning.

Josh and Candace emailed me last night while I was at a concert wanting to get married this morning on the beach. They wanted me to issue them the marriage license then walk onto Venice Beach and tie the knot.

We took care of all the paper work online so I could deliver it to them in the morning.

When I met them at the beach the only place for us to find the document was a picnic table next to a group of homeless travelers.

After we finished the paperwork and started walking toward the beach one of them asked if he could watch the ceremony. They agreed and we walked for the waters edge. I dug a heart into the sand for them to stand in.

It was such a loving ceremony and they were so in love with one another they shined on the beach.

When it was time for the rings to be exchanged they pulled out some twine that her daughters had fashioned the night before. They exchange the rings or should I say the twine and they closed off the ceremony with a wonderful long passionate kiss.

The homeless man tossed his skateboard onto the sand and asked to jump over it like a broom.

Her son was an avid skateboard fan so it was really cute that they got to be able to do this. I improved the following  “from this day on may you always be on a roll, may you never get bored with one another and may you skate off into the sunset”. Then they jumped over the skateboard to begin their happy life together.

I can’t make this stuff up. This is the real life of Alan Katz the professional winning officiant.
