Beach Wedding Blog

Monthly Archive: August 2014

Jim and Bruce came in from Georgia to get married on the beach in sunny Southern California.

They were staying in orange county so I recommended they get married on Little Corona Del Mar beach in orange county.
This beach is known for its beautiful Rocky Coves.
However due to an extreme high tide and Hurricane Maria off the coast of Baja much of the beach was underwater.

So we chose the only spot of dry land left. Surrounded by their family and friends they tied the knot.
They gave me this wonderful testimonial.

Great Officiant Octavio has a Very Busy Wedding Weekend

Octavio-231Omar & Mercedes tied the Knott at beautiful Swiss Park Banquet Center in Whittier. This is one of his favorite locations because the outdoor setting is covered by trees, blocking the sun from the couple and their families and friends. As well as being a beautiful place for the ceremony and pictures of course. This happy couple decided to use the My Favorite ceremony which Octavio translated completely to Spanish for everyone to be included. They added the Mother’s Rose Presentation.

Juan & Llesica tied the knot at 72nd Place in Long Beach. This location provides such a beautiful backdrop, not only to say your vows to your significant other, but also for wonderful pictures. They chose My Favorite ceremony and added a couple of Catholic traditions such as 1st Corinthians and a wedding prayer before the closing comments. It was a bilingual ceremony. The beauty of our ceremonies is that they can be customized to you your wishes.

Oscar & Elizabeth tied the knot at Sterling Hills Golf Club in Camarillo, CA. It was a spectacular afternoon, the sun was shining down on us and the weather couldn’t have been better. Their ceremony was catholic bilingual and they incorporated the Mother’s Rose Presentation & the lasso and coin ceremony. It all came out beautiful and they were very happy with everything.

A Busy Weekend for Beach Weddings

Great Officiant Frank married Ana and Andrew at a beautiful morning beach ceremony which took place Saturday, August 16th. It was the first of 3 ceremonies to be set up on the Long Beach Peninsula.

The 2nd beach wedding on the 16th was an afternoon ceremony for Wendy and Cornelius. by Great Officiant Greg. This lovely couple decided to have a sand ceremony in their wedding. Find info on our sand ceremonies HERE!

The picture above shows the set up for the 3rd and last wedding that occurred on the Long Beach Peninsula that day. Kelly and Andrew were married by Alan Katz in the late afternoon against the beautiful backdrop of downtown Long Beach.

Officiant Michael married Ateah and David, who chose to have their wedding ceremony at Point Dume in Malibu.

From Emergencies to Toddlers- Great Officiant Michael Thieling Can Handle It All!

Emily & Casey

Married on July 25, 2014 at Saddle Peak Lodge

Stories like Emily and Casey’s make me really proud of what we at Great Officiants do. Their ceremony was on a Friday.  That Monday, the officiant they had been working with for a while (not from Great Officiants) called and refused to perform their ceremony unless religious elements were included, which the had said from the onset they didn’t want – so he quit on them.

Enter Great Officiants.  I was happy to put together and perform a ceremony exactly how they wanted it – after all, it’s their day – that’s the point!

Afterwords they had this to say:

About a week before our wedding, our original officiant had to cancel. We were suddenly in a bind and had to act fast to find a new officiant. About an hour after we called Great Officiants, we were put into contact with Michael Thieling. After our first conversation on the phone, we knew he was the right person for the job. Not only was he absolutely the perfect person for our ceremony, he was far better than the original officiant we planned on using! Everyone commented on how well he did.”

I’m so glad they were able to find us and have the ceremony they had dreamed of – congrats guys!!!

Monica & Jebadiah

Married on July 25, 2015 on Point Dume Beach

Monica and Jebadiah had a small, intimate ceremony on the beach at Point Dume – my go-to spot for couple who want to get married on the beach in Malibu.  They were so fun and I had to get an extra picture of their daughter Millicent who was very interested in how I filled out the marriage license. Congrats family!

Kara & Chris

Married on July 26, 2014 at the Courtyard Marriott – Long Beach

Kara and Chris were gracious, upbeat and super fun on their wedding day despite the one major element affecting their wedding out of control – the heat!  We were on a beautiful lawn next to the pond in downtown Long Beach with the majority of their guests in the direct sunlight.  Right before we were about to begin the bride asked me to make it quick.  As I was performing their ceremony I noticed every guest was fanning themselves with their program, so I began to edit down their ceremony on the fly – to the delight of the couple and guests who couldn’t wait to get into the shade. Congrats guys – I hope the reception was held in a location with air conditioning!

Paul & Keiko

Married July 27, 2014 at The Portofino – Redondo Beach

Paul and Keiko were already married, but wanted to affirm their vows in front of their family and friends and I was happy to oblige.  They performed a lovely rose ceremony to their parents and I was able to incorporate some language to include their little son Kai.

Congratulations and good luck to this wonderful family!

A Family Affair for Anthony’s Crystal Cove Ceremony

Dr. Mark Gordon and Jeannie Ycaro gathered with about 40 of their family and friends to exchange vows at their beautiful beach ceremony.  Mark’s brother stood with him to witness this special moment and his son was the ring bearer.  Jeannie’s sister was her Matron of Honor and completing the circle of family joy was Mark’s daughter who was Jeannie’s Jr. Bridesmaid.  This heartfelt ceremony was sweet, meaningful and humorous…all in all a wonderful day.

Congratulations to Dr. and Mrs. Gordon!

Jairo Was Thrilled to Be Part of this Special Occasion at “Occasions”

Jairo was delighted to be a part of the ceremony for Charles and Catherine at “Occasions” in Laguna Village on Saturday Sept. 9. The noon wedding was particularly fun and heartwarming for Jairo. He enjoyed seeing Catherine and Charles smile at each other throughout the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony Charles was so excited to give his bride the first kiss of their married life, he hardly waited long enough for Jairo to finish pronouncing them husband and wife. Once Jairo did say: “you may kiss the bride now,” Charles looked at him in surprise and added: “again” and without wasting time they kissed again. What a great couple, and what a fantastic day!

Father Geoff Presides Over Elegant Barefoot Beach Ceremony

Wendy and Fernando walked down their sandy aisle in traditional wedding finery and barefoot. There’s something about the ocean makes everyone a kid again and puts smiles on our faces.

California is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A beach wedding offers a casual elegance and also the natural beauty that is very hard to match. You can complete your beach wedding with a wedding reception at one of the many nearby fine restaurants.

Officiant Mauricio Helps Couple Join Ranks!

Charlotte was enlisted in the U.S. Military and stationed in the United Kingdom, when she met Allan, a member of the British Armed Forces.  These soldiers were drawn and united by a power stronger than the rule of any government… love.

It was a perfect summer day early in June when they joined ranks, not on the shores of “the Pond”, but rather at the edge of the waters of the Pacific.  Great Officiants Mauricio was honored to be of service.

Officiant Woody’s Fabulous Ceremonies Pt. 1

Blog-Woody1Woody married John and Sabrina at Point Dume in Malibu. Luckily, the wedding ceremony went much smoother than the pictures!

Is that Woody with William Randolph Hearst and Marion Davies? No, it’s Angela & Michael just after they were married by Woody at the Marion Davies Guest House in Santa Monica. This gorgeous venue was built in the 1920s by William Randolph Hearst for beautiful actress Marion Davies.

Woody sometimes feels like a Traveling Minister going from ranch to ranch performing weddings. Here he is with Alma and Juan in Agoura Hills at the serene Peter Strauss Ranch. And of course, no wedding is complete without the obligatory paparazzi shot!

Woody does so many weddings at the Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, they will soon be naming a horse after him! Or so he hopes! Here he is with bride and groom, Lauren and Zachary.
